Enforta plans WiMAX extension with Mentum

15 Oct 2009

Russian WiMAX operator Enforta announced today it will adopt Mentum’s Planet 5.0 radio network planning software to design its future WiMAX deployments. The project with Mentum started in 2008 with an extensive trial, involving high resolution digitals maps, advanced propagation models, and detailed analysis of the accuracy of the solution. Enforta’s key requirement for the planning tool was full support of WiMAX technology and, in particular, the 802.16e release. Vladimir Shkvarin, CTO at Enforta, said: ‘We are now ready to deploy mobile WiMAX and wanted a planning tool from a market leader with worldwide presence like Mentum to help us take advantage of all the technological benefits offered by the next generation of WiMAX networks.’ Enforta manages over 68 WiMAX networks in Russia’s largest cities covering over 70% of the country’s urban population, and intends to deploy the next generation of mobile WiMAX networks in 2010.
