Bakcell expands to Nakhichivan

Azeri mobile operator Bakcell has expanded its network in the autonomous republic of Nakhichivan, Azerbaijan Business Center reports. Bakcell has constructed 22 new base stations in Nakhichivan this year, bringing its total number in the region to 42, and has expanded coverage to all major roads. The cellco added that it will continue to increase its GSM and EDGE footprint in the autonomous republic in 2010. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, Bakcell’s wireless network covers 88% of the Azerbaijan population and 80% of the country’s territory.
