P1 given approval for launch in Sabah and Sarawak

14 Oct 2009

Malaysian WiMAX operator Packet One Networks (P1) has announced plans to roll out commercial services in Sabah and Sarawak in the first half of 2010, The Star Online reports. The move comes after the operator revealed it had been given regulatory approval to launch in the regions on the back of the successful meeting of its 25% population coverage target in Peninsular Malaysia. Commenting on the development, Michael Lai, P1’s chief executive officer, said: ‘Residents in Kuching, Miri, Bintulu, Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan and Tawau will be able to enjoy the freedom of P1 WiMAX broadband as early as in the second quarter.’
