French telecoms solutions provider Alcatel-Lucent (Alca-Lu) has signed new optical transport contracts with four subsidiaries of German telecoms giant Deutsche Telekom (DT). The vendor will deploy its optical transport solution for T-Mobile Austria, T-Mobile Czech Republic, Slovak Telekom and Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa (PTC) of Poland, enabling the operators to cope with increased bandwidth requirements to efficiently deliver fixed and mobile broadband data services, including mobile internet, video and multimedia, high speed internet and triple-play. In Austria, Alca-Lu will upgrade the existing transport network connecting Vienna, Linz, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Klagenfurt and Graz to support 10GE, while in the Czech Republic the French company will enhance backhaul capacity and further improve service delivery efficiency. Meanwhile, Slovak Telekom will see the modernisation of its existing core network for service delivery and operational efficiency empowerment via automated provisioning. Finally, the vendor will continue its network transformation for PTC and leverage enhanced backhaul capacity for high-bandwidth mobile application in a multi-vendor network environment.
