Polish telco Aero2 has won the tender for a wireless broadband licence using the 2570MHz to 2620MHz band, covering the entire country. The licence is valid until 31 December 2024. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, last month telecoms regulator UKE confirmed that two firms, Aero 2 and Milmex Computer Systems, had submitted bids for the 2.6GHz band. According to local media reports, the country’s main mobile operators all boycotted the auction because of ‘onerous terms’, which include reserving a minimum of 20% of capacity for free services.
