T-Mobile turns focus to Corporate Wi-Fi

5 Oct 2009

According to a report by Reuters, T-Mobile USA has teamed with BlackBerry to launch Wi-Fi services to corporate customers, hoping to increase its presence in the business market as it chases larger rivals such as AT&T and Verizon. The firm, which focuses primarily on cost-conscious consumers, said its new service combines Research In Motion’s BlackBerry phones with the short-range radio technology to help companies save money both on mobile and fixed line calls. Corporate users could get rid of their desktop phone as their BlackBerries will revert to the Wi-Fi network within the office, or anywhere else they have access to a Wi-Fi network, using fewer cellular minutes and eliminating the need for wired phones, T-Mobile USA added.
