FT appoints new deputy CEO as Louis-Pierre Wenes quits

5 Oct 2009

Stephane Richard has been appointed deputy CEO in charge of operations in France, France Telecom (FT) has announced in a press release. The decision follows the current incumbent’s, Louis-Pierre Wenes’, written request to be relieved of his responsibilities. FT’s Didier Lombard accepted his request and thanked Louis-Pierre for all his accomplishments since December 2002 and for the significant contribution that he has made to the turnaround and the performance of the group.

France Telecom is reeling from a spate of suicides within the firm which claimed the 24th victim earlier this month. Local unions have called into question whether a decision to restructure the former state-run behemoth could be to blame for some of the suicides. FT laid off some 22,000 staff between 2006 and 2008.
