Norwegian GSM network operator Network Norway has announced a deal with mobile internet solutions provider Flash Networks, under which the latter has implemented its data optimisation solutions. Network Norway says that the upgrade will allow it to offer smoother and faster mobile internet browsing, as well enabling it to reduce network load so that it can free up capacity to meet increasing demand. ‘Both businesses and consumers are demanding mobile access to bandwidth-intensive applications and services. In order to keep up with this growing demand while keeping our CAPEX and OPEX in check, we deployed Flash Networks’ data optimisation solution,’ said Tor Anders Braun, Head of VAS & Core Networks at Network Norway. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, Network Norway launched commercial services on its GSM network in May 2006, and as at end-August 2009 its infrastructure covered approximately 60% of the Norwegian population. It is expected to launch a 3G W-CDMA network in the first quarter of 2010.
