Iraqi mobile operator Asiacell has launched ‘Ocean Roaming’, a service enabling subscribers to stay connected while at sea, writes AMEinfo. ‘It is our aim at Asiacell to make quality mobile technology accessible to customers across Iraq, which is why we continue to develop our services in order to target all customers,’ said Diar Ahmed, Asiacell’s CEO, adding that Ocean Roaming is designed for international travellers that require a simple, convenient and cost efficient way to keep in touch when on the move. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, Asiacell was Iraq’s second largest cellco by subscribers at 30 June 2009 behind Zain Iraq, with a wireless customer base of 7.003 million.
