Vivo makes payment on Parana, Santa Catarina 3G licences

29 Sep 2009

Brazil’s largest mobile operator by subscribers, Vivo Participacoes, has stumped up BRL235 million (USD131 million) to pay the national telecoms regulator Anatel part of the cost of the 3G licences it won in April 2008, BNamericas cites local press as saying. It is understood the payment covers the 3G concessions the cellco won in Parana and Santa Catarina states, and follows the BRL902 million instalment handed over to Anatel in August this year. Taking into account the latest payment, Vivo has now completed on 90% of its total BRL1.3 billion commitment for 3G licences.
