Telstra adds ADSL2+ to 100th Tasmanian exchange

28 Sep 2009

Australian incumbent Telstra has announced that it has upgraded its 100th telephone exchange in Tasmania with ADSL2+ technology, iTWire reports. The latest ADSL2+-enabled exchange is in Richmond, and Telstra said that the latest upgrade means its level of coverage of Tasmania has risen to 88% of the population. The telco already offers standard ADSL services in 134 Tasmanian exchanges, giving around 92% of the population access to the service, while it also claims its ‘NextG’ W-CDMA network offers wireless broadband services to 97% of Tasmanians, and covers around 55% of the island’s terrain.
