Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) has announced that it has been awarded a contract to expand and modernise T-Mobile Austria’s 3G networks by mid-2010. Under the project NSN will deploy 2,500 LTE-ready base stations nationwide. The firm will also provide T-Mobile with its ‘NetAct’ network management system to monitor, manage and optimise the network to ensure high quality services. Manfred Kilga of Nokia Siemens Networks said: ‘Our energy efficient Flexi Multiradio base station is a complete solution for operators, ensuring excellent end-user experience, top service quality and network performance. It is easy to deploy, works perfectly for 3G and is ready for the next generation of mobile networks, which means it only needs a software upgrade to move along the future evolution path, helping keep operating expenditure in check.’
