21 Sep 2009

Bell Aliant has launched its first commercial fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) services under the FibreOP brand, giving residential customers in New Brunswick a range of triple-play options including internet connections at speeds of up to 35Mbps download and 10Mbps upload, and 200 digital TV and radio channels including 45 High Definition (HD) channels. FibreOP services are initially available in selected areas of Fredericton, and will continue to be rolled out to the remainder of the city and Saint John by the middle of next year. In July Bell Aliant announced that with the support of the Government of New Brunswick, it would invest CAD60 million (USD56 million) to serve 70,000 homes and businesses in Fredericton and Saint John with direct fibre access by mid 2010.
