Swedish telecoms equipment maker Ericsson has won a breakthrough order to maintain the fixed line network in Sweden of TeliaSonera. The contract is Ericsson’s first outsourcing deal from the telco in Sweden. TeliaSonera awarded the deal via its network subsidiary Skanova. The assignment includes error-reporting in the operator’s AXE nodes and installation services across the country. The deal runs for two years, but can be extended to three. ‘So far, mobile operators have been the quickest to outsource operation and maintenance of their networks. This shows that the trend has now spread even to fixed networks,’ Valter D’Avino, responsible for Ericsson’s outsourcing business Managed Services said. He declined to comment on the order value.
