Swiss wireless network operators should be permitted to cooperate in the deployment of LTE networks, according to the CEO of Sunrise Christoph Brand. Swiss business title Cash reports him as saying that deploying LTE will cost ‘three-figure millions of francs’ which he contends is no problem for Swisscom but is for his own company and Orange Switzerland. Brand thus proposes more cooperation between operators when deploying LTE, which could lead to one or two networks instead three networks. The president of the Swiss telecommunications regulator ComCom, Marc Furrer, said that he would be willing to facilitate cooperation between Sunrise and Orange, not only for future networks but also for merging their current mobile networks. Cash asked Orange for a reaction and a spokesperson said that such cooperation is ‘conceivable’.
