ZTE, Vinaphone ink central Vietnam 3G contract

Chinese equipment and network solutions provider ZTE has announced it has partnered with Vietnamese mobile operator Vinaphone to roll out the cellco’s third generation network in Vietnam’s central provinces. Under the terms of the contract, ZTE will provide the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications (VNPT) subsidiary with advanced SDR base stations to support the UMTS network and enable access to 3G high speed data services. As reported by CommsUpdate, Vinaphone has also handed 3G rollout contracts to vendors Motorola and Ericsson, which will deploy networks in the north and south, respectively.
