O2 to offer businesses fixed line service; extends managed services agreement with BT Wholesale

17 Sep 2009

British mobile operator O2 has signed a five-year managed services agreement with BT Wholesale, on the back of which the cellco will launch a range of fixed line products targeting the business market. Under the deal, the financial details of which have not been revealed, BT Wholesale will design, manage and operate a dedicated order portal and service management centre for the provision of orders by O2’s sales teams. O2 meanwhile will offer SME and corporate customers a converged solution incorporating mobile, fixed line, data, broadband communications, equipment and professional consultancy. It claims the service, which it will market under the ‘Joined Up’ banner, will give businesses of all sizes an opportunity to outsource their telecoms, ICT and consultancy needs to just one provider, reducing the amount of time spent handling and managing systems and communications services. Ronan Dunne, CEO of O2 UK, said of the plans: ‘This is an exciting deal for O2 allowing us to further enhance our product range to business. Working with BT Wholesale now gives us the opportunity to offer our business customers a true end to end service which incorporates fixed line services as well as mobile, data and unique consultancy that we already provide.’
