Dow Jones Newswires writes that the Hungarian authorities are considering a plan to license frequencies in the 900MHz band for mobile broadband and internet access services next year, subject to the planned implementation of new EU-wide regulations being adopted. Gyorgy Marton, a spokesman for the national regulator NHH, told the news agency: ‘There’s a realistic chance that such a tender could increase budget revenue [next year].’ The 2010 draft budget includes HUF20 billion (USD108.6 million) of concession revenue from the mobile broadband tender. Changes to EU regulations are expected in September or October and if realised would allow the provision of data-only broadband mobile internet services in the 900MHz band.
