Mobily seals Qualcomm agreement

Saudi mobile operator Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) has announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Qualcomm Incorporated, contracting the San Diego-based company to provide management, training and network planning services. Specifically Mobily will consult with Qualcomm over the planning and deployment of its mooted HSPA+ network. Khalid Al Kaf, Mobily’s CEO, said that the agreement will also enable Mobily and Qualcomm to cooperate on new ideas and future technology trends in the wireless communication sector. Al Kaf said: ‘We are excited about collaborating with one of the leading companies in the telecoms sector. Qualcomm has a substantial presence in the wireless communication market and through this MOU, we will be offered many advantages to meet our customers’ needs.’
