MIRS extends bid deadline to 21 September

14 Sep 2009

According to Globes Online, Israeli iDEN operator MIRS Communication’s parent company, Motorola Israel, has announced that it has extended the deadline for bids for its stake in the operator until 21 September. The move comes after requests from those companies interested in MIRS, which include all three of the country’s mobile network operators – Bezeq subsidiary Pelephone, Partner Communications and Cellcom. It has also been reported that HOT-Telecommunications Systems may no longer place a bid for MIRS; instead it is thought that Patrick Drahi, who owns a 20% stake in HOT, will instead lead a separate bid, which is thought to have been prepared with the knowledge of HOT’s other main shareholders, Fishman Holdings and Yediot Communications. Should Drahi successfully acquire MIRS it is understood that further actions to merge HOT and MIRS may be considered.
