US-based Verimatrix has announced it is providing a layered content security system for the IPTV rollout of Vietnamese state-owned incumbent telco Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications (VNPT). The vendor will deploy its Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) for IPTV, which is the integrated content security solution for Chinese equipment provider ZTE’s ZXBIV IPTV Eyewill platform, and enables the delivery of live broadcast and video on demand (VOD) content, and interactive features. Fang Hui, ZTE’s GM of the multimedia and terminal product line, said: ‘The integrated ZTE and Verimatrix IPTV solution provides a scalable platform to VNPT to complete its nationwide rollout and add more channel packages and interactive services.’ According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, VNPT’s IPTV service was first launched in Ha Noi and Hai Phong in June 2009, with announcement that the offering would arrive in Vietnam’s southern provinces and HCM City in September. The first phase of VNPT’s IPTV deployment includes offering live TV, VOD, music-on-demand (MOD) and TV-on-demand (TVoD). The second planned phase will add media sharing services, usage data access and e-education among others.
