Global Mobile Selects Bridgewater for WiMAX

8 Sep 2009

Canadian equipment supplier Bridgewater Systems has announced that it has been selected by Taiwan’s Global Mobile to supply the start-up with its Service Controller and Policy Controller solutions as part of the company’s network deployments in Hsinchu and Taipei. The telco is planning to launch the first of its WiMAX networks in Hsinchu by the end of 2009, before extending its network coverage to Taipei in 2010. Bridgewater’s WiMAX solutions will allow Global Mobile to deliver services such as mobile internet, mobile TV, interactive media services, digital audio, and mobile advertising to the consumer, with the vendor claiming it will also lower operating costs. Rosemary Ho, chairman of Global Mobile, said: ‘Our goal is to deliver ‘anytime, anywhere, and any device’ applications and services to our customers. We selected Bridgewater’s market leading service and policy control products including over-the-air provisioning because they are enabling us to rapidly commercialise our 4G services and meet our time-to-market goals.’
