Vodafone Qatar has announced it has reached 99% population coverage since commercially launching its GSM mobile network in July, adding that it is confident of capturing 40%-60% market share from incumbent Qatar Telecom within ten years, ArabianBusiness.com reports. Vodafone also said that whilst it has initially relied on temporary wireless towers to achieve rollout commitments, it has begun replacing some and hopes to have 100% permanent structures deployed by next year. Also commenting on a lack of indoor coverage in some areas, the cellco said it was ‘working on indoor coverage in some of the towers in the Dafna area which… will be fixed soon.’ The UK-backed company is also aiming to increase its number of retail outlets to 1,500 by the end of the year.
