2 Sep 2009

Singapore’s telecoms regulator the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) yesterday announced it is doubling access speeds for its free Wi-Fi service, Wireless@SG, and planning to add new features to the service, including location-based services (LBS). Access speeds for the service have been doubled from 512kbps to 1Mbps it said, with LBS and secure automated login capabilities scheduled to be added by January 2010. Three local operators – iCell Network, Singapore Telecom, and Qmax Communications – currently manage a total of 7,500 Wireless@SG hotspots in the city state.
