Vivo pays Anatel USD482m for 3G licence

Brazil’s largest mobile operator by subscribers Vivo Participacoes has handed over BRL902 million (USD482 million) to the country’s telecoms regulator Anatel as part-payment of the 3G licence it won in April 2008, BNamericas reports citing a company filing to the securities regulator CVM. The payment constitutes 69.6% of the amount owed to Anatel for the concession, which covers twelve regions throughout Brazil.
