Cellcos boycott tender

1 Sep 2009

TelecomPaper reports that Polish telecoms regulator UKE has confirmed that only two firms, Aero 2 and Milmex Computer Systems, have submitted offers for radio frequencies in the 2570MHz-2620MHz band. According to local media reports, the country’s main mobile operators have boycotted the auction because of onerous terms, which include reserving 20% of capacity for free services. The licences on offer are valid until the end of 2024 and may be used for broadband wireless services. The regulator has not said when it expects to award the frequencies.
