Colombia nears three million internet subscribers target

According to data released by the regulator CRC and published by local newspaper Portafolio, the number of internet subscribers in Colombia reached 2.74 million at the end of June, up from 2.47 million twelve months earlier, reports BNamericas. Maria del Rosario Guerra, the country’s communications minister, said that the goal of reaching three million internet subscribers by the end of 2009 will be met. Mobile internet subscribers soared 56.8% in the last three months alone, climbing to 495,730, while fixed internet connections made up the remainder of the total.
