Telkom to acquire Indonesian Tower stake

Indonesia’s largest telecommunication company PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom) plans to acquire an 80% stake in domestic telecoms tower firm PT Solusindo Kreasi Pratama, more commonly known as Indonesian Tower, the former’s president Rinaldi Firmanysah is quoted as saying. Indonesian Tower’s assets comprise more than 800 towers across the country; during 2008 the company increased its customer base to 1,400 clients. ‘We believe towers are strategic infrastructure for ICT companies such as Telkom and this acquisition will strengthen Telkom Group’s position in the industry,’ Rinaldi Firmanysah said. No financial details were disclosed.
