According to Bernama, the Malaysian government has yet to respond to incumbent Telekom Malaysia’s (TM’s) queries relating to the recently announced High Speed Broadband Project (HSBB) being undertaken in Pahang by state-backed firm, Jalur Lebar Nasional (Jalenas). TM’s group chief operating officer, Datuk Adnan Rofiee, is quoted as saying: ‘There will be detailed discussions between the government and the respective players (in the project), but we have yet to hear from the government.’ The development comes after it was revealed earlier this month that Jalenas, which is part owned by High Speed Broadband Technology (HSBT) would construct a rival fibre-to-the-home network in Pahang; HSBT was one of the companies which lost out to TM in the bid for the national HSBB project in August 2008.
