Cellcom posts second quarter net income increase

17 Aug 2009

Israel’s largest mobile phone operator, Cellcom, has posted a 15% increase in year-on-year second quarter net income to ILS277 million (USD71 million) reports Reuters. The improvement came on the back of efficiency measures which cut expenses coupled with revenue from content and value-added services more than offsetting declines in roaming revenue. Sales overall inched up 0.5% to ILS1.6 billion, while EBITDA grew 3% to ILS637 million. The company’s wireless subscriber base at the end of June reached 3.228 million, ahead of rival Partner Communications’ 2.944 million.
