Drillisch H1 revenue down 6.6%, subs fall 2%

12 Aug 2009

German mobile service provider Drillisch has posted revenue for the first half of 2009 of EUR162.4 million (USD229.8 million), reflecting a 6.6% decline compared with the same period a year earlier. The company attributed the decrease to deliberate elimination of low-margin business in the hardware sectors and a decline in the pre-paid business. The company’s adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) for the period grew 4.9% year-on-year to reach EUR21.3 million, while gross profit reached EUR38.1 million in H1 2009, up 3.2% compared to the first half of 2008. In the six months ended 30 June 2009 Drillisch’s mobile services customer base fell by 2.26% to 2.22 million, although the decline in the pre-paid segment of 9.7% to 1.321 million users was off-set by growth in the post-paid segment of 9.8% to 909,000 subscribers.
