Local news source Viet Nam News reports that the country’s incumbent state-owned operator Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications (VNPT) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Intel to boost long-term strategic cooperation in the fields of technology research, development and application. It is hoped that the partnership will lead to developments in the broadband internet sector, including 3G and wireless technology. Under the MoU, the two sides will focus on diversifying integrated products and services to serve internet access at a lower cost. The duo will devise a programme of cooperation between VNPT’s affiliates to introduce integrated internet products. ‘Our cooperation today is the next step in our successful past cooperation and in generating a new evolution in the bilateral relationship to further improve quality, diversify IT and telecommunication products and services, and satisfy the increasing demand of our customers,’ said VNPT general director Nguyen Ba Phuoc at the signing ceremony.
