T-Mobile’s Czech unit has selected Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) to build a 3G/3.5G network in the country based on high speed packet access (HSPA) technology. In a statement, T-Mobile said that by the end of the year the new service would be commercially available in the capital Prague offering a maximum download of 14.4Mbps and uploads of up to 5.7Mbps. ‘The demand for data services in the Czech Republic continues to grow,’ said Roland Mahler, managing director of T-Mobile Czech Republic. He went on to add that the rollout of 3G networks is now seen as a ‘top priority’ for the company. Pilot tests of HSPA will begin in the autumn at T-Mobile’s headquarters in Prague.
