Bezeq confirm intentions for MIRS bid

10 Aug 2009

Bezeq’s wireless arm Pelephone is set to bid for local iDEN operator MIRS Communications, according to Reuters. Pelephone is expected to submit a non-binding offer to buy a 100% stake in MIRS, which is currently owned by Motorola Israel, with Bezeq announcing its intention to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. Bezeq did, however, note that it was not certain the proposal would be accepted, adding that the sale process for MIRS was still in the early stages. The announcement comes just a few days after rumours that Pelephone’s main rival, and Israel’s largest mobile operator by subscribers, Cellcom, was mulling a bid for MIRS.
