Incumbent telecoms operator Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) has reported that its net profit for the first half of 2009 saw a slight fall year-on-year to OMR73.04 million (USD190.2 million), down from OMR74.8 million recorded in the six months ended 30 June 2008. The company has not published its figure for the second quarter ended 30 June 2009, though Reuters has calculated Omantel’s Q2 net profit based on the company’s earlier financial statements, reporting that it slipped 3.26% to OMR35.14 million during the three month period.
