TIM Brasil: 2Q net loss narrows to BRL15.2m

Brazilian mobile group TIM Participacoes (TIM Brasil), a unit of Telecom Italia, yesterday reported second-quarter net losses of BRL15.2 million (USD8.3 million) for the three months ended 30 June 2009, compared with a loss of BRL66.3 million in the corresponding period of 2008. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA), sometimes seen as a measure of cash flow and operating profitability, climbed 15.5% over the same period from BRL637 million to BRL736 million, the telco said in a statement.
