4 Aug 2009

According to ISPreview, British broadband provider TalkTalk, a subsidiary of Carphone Warehouse, has confirmed its plans to take part in trials of fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) broadband services that are underway by incumbent BT. The trials began last month and are expected to run for at least six months; BT is testing download speeds of up to 40Mbps and upload speeds of up to 2Mbps in exchanges in the Muswell Hill area of London and the Whitchurch area of Cardiff. TalkTalk has indicated that it hopes to offer fibre-based services to its entire network if the trials are successful.
