Clearwire targets Texas

US-based WiMAX specialist Clearwire has revealed plans to launch eight new networks in Texas on 1 September 2009. The firm will roll out its mobile broadband services in Abilene, Amarillo, Corpus Christi, Killeen/Temple, Lubbock, Midland/Odessa, Waco and Wichita Falls by the end of the month, along with parallel deployments in Boise; Idaho and Bellingham; Washington. Clearwire’s 4G network is already available in four markets; Atlanta, Baltimore, Portland and Las Vegas. The company intends to bring its ‘Clear’ WiMAX brand to 80 markets covering up to 120 million people by the end of 2010.
