Telkom Indonesia has reported a 4% fall in first-half net profit to IDR6 billion (USD600 million) on the back of a 7.1% decline in operating income to IDR11.6 billion. Sales came in at IDR30.7 billion, up 1.5% year-on-year, as revenue gains from cellular services more than offset the drop from fixed line services and interconnection. Total copper-based fixed lines in service were largely unchanged at 8.7 million, while wireless in the local loop (WiLL) lines soared 82% to 13.5 million. The subscriber base at the telco’s wireless unit Telkomsel grew 45% to more than 76 million. The number of broadband subscribers enjoyed the biggest increase, however, after more than doubling to 816,000.
