Bell Aliant revenues down, but EBITDA up on cost savings

31 Jul 2009

Canadian regional full-service telco Bell Aliant has reported that its operating revenues in the second quarter of this year were CAD790 million (USD727 million), down by CAD23 million or 2.9% year-on-year. However, despite the revenue decline, EBITDA in the three months to the end of June 2009 increased by CAD7 million, or 1.9%, to CAD368 million, compared to the same quarter a year earlier, with the company claiming that labour-related cost reductions and cost containment initiatives accounted for most of the improvement. Bell Aliant’s internet revenue grew by CAD10 million or 10.4% y-o-y in the three-month period, with the number of fixed broadband customers increasing by 7.9% and residential high speed internet ARPU 6.0% higher than 2Q08.
