Piltel pulls plug on plan

Pilipino Telephone Corp (Piltel) has withdrawn its application to operate a data communications network, reports BusinessWorld Online. In a filing with the regulator, the National Telecommunications Commissions (NTC), Piltel said it has abandoned a five-year plan to deploy a PHP7.6 billion wireless data communication service nationwide using broadband wireless access frequency spectrum. The move marks the end of Piltel’s presence in the telecoms industry.
