New Zealand’s third mobile operator 2degrees has announced that it will launch commercially on 5 August, reports the National Business Review. As reported by CommsUpdate, the company first revealed on 11 May that it would go live in August, but the cellco has now released further details regarding the launch. The company revealed that it had signed up 50,000 customers to its trial promotion ‘Chinwag’, promotion, which sees subscribers sent a SIM card loaded with NZD5 (USD3.28) credit. Consumers that have signed up for the promotion will receive their 2degrees SIM cards incrementally from 4 August. On the same date the company plans to reveal details of its tariffs and available handsets.
The company will soon be joined in the market by MVNO Callplus which is expected to launch two services across Vodafone’s network on 15 August.
