Maxis mulling return to bourse?

27 Jul 2009

According to the Star Online, Maxis Communications has said it will consider its options for a possible relisting on the Bursa Malaysia following comments from the country’s Prime Minister, Najib Tun Razak. The head of the government had reportedly called on Maxis stakeholders to deliberate the option of relisting the company to aid the state’s attempts to increase the market capitalisation of the exchange, as well the range of companies listed. It has been rumoured that an initial public offer by Maxis could be launched by October this year, leading to the company’s relisting before year’s end. Maxis, which is by owned by Binariang GSM (75%) and Saudi Telecom Company (25%), was delisted in June 2007.
