KCom to refocus business units; network management outsourcing on track

27 Jul 2009

British telco KCom has issued an interim management statement for the three months to 30 June 2009, stating that its trading had been in line with expectations. The operator reiterated its focus on cost management, noting that it plans to move towards a more ‘integrated and tightly focused group structure based on two businesses’. It is understood that the first of these two businesses will include KCom’s East Yorkshire-based businesses, as well as SME-orientated broadband provider Eclipse Internet, with the second unit acting as a national managed services business. KCom said it will formally announce the new format of its units in its interim results, which are due to be published on 24 November 2009.

KCom also said that, following the announcement last month that it had inked a deal to outsource the management of its network to BT, it was on schedule to complete the management transfer on 1 September 2009.
