The Brazilian mobile arm of Mexican telecoms powerhouse America Movil, Telecom Americas (Claro), says investment spend in 2009 will likely exceed its original target of USD1 billion, Agencia Estado reports. According to Claro’s operations manager Bernardo Winik the company’s shareholders are expected to give the thumbs up to the additional spend, which will mostly go towards developing the cellco’s 3G capabilities. ‘With these investments, we expect to reach maturity in 3G during 2010,’ he said.
