German cable network operator Kabel Deutschland (KDG) has announced the signing of an agreement with three housing corporations to deploy a cable network in the town of Schoenebeck, located in the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt. Under the agreement, KDG will invest EUR3 million (USD4.3 million) in deploying a cable network, to provide over 8,300 households with broadband internet, telephony and digital TV services by 2013. The three housing corporations, Stadtische Wohnungsbau (SWB), Wohnungsbaugenossenschaft Schoenebeck (WBG) and Gemeinnuetzige Schoenebecker Wohnungs-Genossenschaft (GWG), made the decision to find a new telecoms service provider, after KDG’s predecessor wanted to increase its prices by 30% from September.
