France Telecom has said that it will consider acquiring the Polish government’s 4.15% stake in Telekomunikacja Polska (TP SA), after the government confirmed it is considering selling. ‘We would examine with interest any opportunity presented by the Polish government to acquire its stake, if conditions are acceptable,’ a France Telecom spokesman said. Poland’s government has announced plans to sell stakes in strategic companies such as TP SA in an effort to plug a hole in the budget without raising taxes or introducing austerity measures. France Telecom currently holds 49.8% in TPSA.
