The Georgian National Communications Commission (GNCC) has extended the licence of the country’s second largest cellco by subscribers, Geocell, by ten years, reports Russian news source Prime-Tass. The combined GSM-900 and GSM-1800 concession of the TeliaSonera and Turkcell-backed company was due to expire on 3 August, but is now valid until 2019. The GNCC has also extended Geocell’s ten-year term licence for the use of numbering resources 8-93. At the end of March 2009 Geocell claimed almost 1.6 million subscribers giving it a market share of 41.2%, just behind market leader MagtiCom with 46.5%.
