Telenet to become full MVNO

16 Jul 2009

Belgian quad-play operator Telenet has awarded a new contract to Alcatel-Lucent to deploy mobile network elements that it says will make it the first European cable operator to become a full mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). The Flanders-based cableco selected the French-US vendor as overall network integrator of a full mobile core and value added service network components, under a seven-year frame agreement. Alcatel-Lucent will be responsible for the supply, installation, integration, operation and maintenance of Telenet’s next generation mobile core network and service creation infrastructure, according to a press release.
