16 Jul 2009

UAE telecoms operator Du has launched ‘Du TV+’, an updated version of its IPTV offering, writes Middle East business and finance news source Zawya. The service is powered by IPTV software programme Microsoft Mediaroom and enables new features such as simplified search and display, instant channel change, time-shifting and high-definition (HD) content. Du TV+ has been available to new home customers in areas covered by the telco’s fixed line network since 1 July, and from 15 August existing customers will be migrated to the new service in stages by swapping set-top boxes, with the upgrade being delivered free of charge. According to the report, 1,000 customers have already subscribed to the new service since its launch. Subscriptions for TV+ include a personal recordable decoder and a basic TV package of over 130 channels for AED55 (USD14.97) per month.
